August 2008 Newsletter

Dear CCF Alumni,

We are just two weeks from the start of a new school year, so things are starting to ramp up here in Boone. Our two new staff, Ed Ponton and Danielle Adkison, have arrived in town and officially began their ministry on August 1st. The following day we took five students leaders to the annual National Student Conference at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville where we had the opportunity to hear a great teacher of the Word and attend very helpful and challenging workshops.

I am so impressed with our new leaders and their enthusiasm for the Lord and this coming year of ministry on campus. They spent many hours during the conference talking and praying with each other about the upcoming year. I think the thing that most impresses me is their desire to draw students into a real and meaningful relationship with Jesus and to have fellowship with each other, beyond just hanging out and having fun together. They want to spur one another on to deeper spiritual living.

I believe we are poised to see great things happen in our ministry which is why we covet your prayers. I have no doubt the Enemy will be seeking to derail the Lord’s work. Below are some specific prayer requests that I ask you to lift up. We appreciate your financial support, but we also need your help through prayer.

*Ed and Danielle as they assume their new ministry positions. Pray they have wisdom and discernment as they meet with students. Pray for additional financial support, as both are well short of where they need to be.

*Our interaction with freshman at the Religious Organization Fair on Aug. 24th and the Club Expo on Aug. 25th. Pray the Lord will lead those to our booth to whom He wants us to minister

*Our Leader’s Retreat on Aug.25th. Pray for a unity of purpose among our leaders after a summer apart. Pray for the plans we finalize that they will be guided by the Lord and used to shine His light on our campus. Pray our leaders will be strong and steadfast when the Enemy seeks to attack them. Pray the light of the Lord with shine brightly through them.

*Our first Immersion on August 26th. Pray for our Worship Band and its new leaders as they seek to continue the excellence of our music. Pray for me as I speak to students on making the Lord their first priority during the school year. And pray for the Lord to draw the students to whom we can minister most effectively.

There is much more I could request, but if you will pray for these, it will be a great blessing to us as we begin a new school year. Thanks so much for your faithful support.

In Christ Jesus,

Jim Musser
